  1.                      Welcome to MAIL MANAGER +PLUS+!

  3. MAIN MENU commands are a single letter, and as follows:
  4.  
  5.    C - Configure Mail Manager +Plus+.
  6.  
  7.        Permits you to tailor Mail Manager's operation to suit your prefer-
  8.        ences.  Options available are:
  9.  
  10.        A) Select the conferences from which you would like to extract
  11.           messages.
  12.  
  13.           On your first trip into the door, Mail Manager +Plus+ sets
  14.           you up to receive messages in all conferences that you have
  15.           joined from RBBS-PC.  You can turn a conference "on" or "off"
  16.           by entering the conference number at the prompt.  A conference
  17.           is selected as "active" if it is surrounded in brackets, such
  18.           as:

  20.             [MAIN   ]
  21.  
  22.           There may be many conferences to choose from.  You can save
  23.           yourself some time by "stacking" the conference numbers here.
  24.           For instance, you can enter:
  25.  
  26.             1 15 20 25 50
  27.  
  28.           ...to toggle conferences numbered 1, 15, 20, 25, and 50.

  30.        B) Format of downloaded mail packets (Text or QWK).
  31.  
  32.           Set to TEXT if you want to use Mail Manager +Plus+ as a simple
  33.           "extract and download" system (all messages in a single
  34.           continuous ascii file).
  35.  
  36.           Set to QWK if you want to read and reply offline using a
  37.           QWK-compatible mail reader like SLMR.
  38.  
  39.        C) Do you want messages addressed to "ALL" marked as personal in
  40.           your QWK packets?
  41.  
  42.           If set to "Y", Mail Manager +Plus+ will add messages addressed
  43.           to "ALL" to your QWK packet personal index.
  44.  
  45.        D) Do you want to extract ONLY your personal mail?
  46.  
  47.           If set to "Y", Mail Manager +Plus+ will not extract a message
  48.           unless it is addressed to you.  (Will also extract messages to
  49.           "ALL" if you have option C set to "Y".)
  50.  
  51.        E) Do you want to extract messages written by you?
  52.  
  53.           If set to "NO", Mail Manager +Plus+ will not include messages
  54.           from you in your packet.
  55.  
  56.        F) Do you want to abort the download if no new messages are
  57.           found?
  58.  
  59.           You might not want to do this if you would still like to
  60.           receive new file listings or updated system news or bulletins.
  61.  
  62.        G) Do you want to have updated bulletins included in your packet?
  63.  
  64.           If set to "Y" all bulletins newer than your previous logon
  65.           date for this BBS will be included in your mail packet.
  66.  
  67.           If set to "N", any updated bulletins which the sysop has
  68.           designated as mandatory will still be included.
  69.  
  70.        H) Do you want new file listings included in your packet?
  71.  
  72.           If you select this option, a listing of newly-uploaded files
  73.           will be included in your mail packet.
  74.  
  75.           This option may not be operational on all systems.
  76.  
  77.        I) Do you want to confirm you wish to receive the packet prior
  78.           to the actual download?
  79.  
  80.           If set to "Y", Mail Manager +Plus+ will stop and ask you
  81.           whether or not to send you the packet before it starts the
  82.           actual file transfer.
  83.  
  84.        J) Which type of file compression do you want to use on your mail
  85.           packet?
  86.  
  87.           You can choose from the file compression utilities offered by
  88.           your sysop (ZIP, ARC, etc.)
  89.  
  90.        K) Which file tranfer protocol do you wish to use?
  91.  
  92.           Choose from the protcols offered by your sysop (Xmodem,
  93.           Zmodem, etc.).  Set to "N" (None) if you'd like to choose
  94.           your preferred protocol on each file transfer.
  95.  
  96.        L) Do you want Mail Manager +Plus+ to tell RBBS-PC that you've
  97.           read the mail that you download from this door?
  98.  
  99.           If this is set to NO, both RBBS and Mail Manager +Plus+ will
  100.           think that you haven't read the messages that you've downloaded.
  101.           (Mail Manager +Plus+ will extract them again your next time in).
  102.  
  103.        T) TurboKey toggle.
  104.  
  105.           If set to "Yes", Mail Manager +Plus+ will act on 1-character
  106.           commands wherever it can, without requiring you to press
  107.           [ENTER] afterwards.
  108.  
  109.        When you are finished configuring, you'll be asked to save your
  110.        current choices.  You MUST answer yes if you want your changes to
  111.        be saved for subsequent visits to the Mail Manager +Plus+ door.

  113.    D - Download new mail.
  114.  
  115.        Will find and extract all new mail from your selected conferences,
  116.        in the format that you told Mail Manager +Plus+ to use (Text or QWK).
  117.  
  118.        Mail Manager +Plus+ will then compress the file(s) in your selected
  119.        compression format.
  120.  
  121.        Unless your file protocol is set to N)one, Mail Manager +Plus+ will
  122.        then send you the mail packet.  If your default protocol is set to
  123.        N)one, you'll be asked for the transfer protocol of your choice.
  124.        If you choose "N", the file will not be sent to you, and you'll be
  125.        returned to the main menu.  Otherwise Mail Manager +Plus+ will do
  126.        its best to send a compressed version of the mail to you via your
  127.        selected choice.

  129.    E - Exit after download.
  130.  
  131.        Same as Download (above), except automatically exits back to
  132.        the main bulletin board when finished.  
  133.        
  134.    Q - Quit (return to BBS).
  135.  
  136.        This one should be pretty self-explanatory.  May also be
  137.        activated by pressing G.
  138.  
  139.    H - (Or '?') Display this help file.

  141.        ... and that's exactly what it does. :-)

  143.    M - Message number (lowest) to extract in each conference.
  144.  
  145.        Mail Manager +Plus+ will normally download mail based on the
  146.        last message that you've read in each conference.  Since you
  147.        can read mail both online AND offline, and have the option of
  148.        telling Mail Manager +Plus+ NOT to update your last message
  149.        read markers, you might want to use this option from time to
  150.        time to reset them to what you want.

  152.        You may set this in a number of ways:
  153.  
  154.           - by entering a specific message number,
  155.           - an increment such as +50 or -25,
  156.           - "L" to reset to the highest message in the conference,
  157.           - "L-10" to extract the last 10 messages, or
  158.           - just press [ENTER] for no change.
  159.  
  160.        If you get an error while changing your message markers, try going
  161.        back through the C)onfigure option, saving your settings, and try
  162.        again.
  163.  
  164.    U - Upload your replies.
  165.  
  166.        Works with QWK-compatible mail reader/repliers only. Your uploaded
  167.        file is expected to be compatible with the .REP format used by
  168.        popular mail readers such as SLMR.  Mail Manager +Plus+ will look
  169.        for the REP packet after the upload and attempt to place your replies
  170.        into the proper message bases.

  172.        If your default protocol is set to N)one, you'll be asked for the
  173.        protocol that you wish to use.  If you select N)one, you'll be
  174.        returned to the main menu.
  175.  
  176.    W - Who's online?
  177.  
  178.        Displays a list of who's online to all nodes of this RBBS-PC.
  179.        (Much like RBBS's command of the same name).
  180.  
  181.    X - Expert toggle.
  182.  
  183.        Turns the main menu on or off.  (Much like RBBS's command of the
  184.        same name).
